Mr. Lim Wen Jie is a graduate of Master of Architecture and a scholarship recipient for his 5 years of study.
He was trained in the architectural sense of form-making and project management.
During his free time, he keeps on doing urban sketching, fine arts, graphic design, and photography.
After more than 5 years of architectural study and 1 year of practical training before continuing his master’s degree, he is equipped with adequate skills and experience in art.
Besides architecture, he was also interested in doing building paintings, particularly pen sketches, Chinese ink paintings, and watercolor.
His preference in urban sketching is historical building especially the unique Straits Eclectic architecture spanning across the regions for instance Singapore, Malacca, and Penang.
Art Journey
Back in 2015, his artwork submission “Revitalising Penang” to Nando’s Art Initiative Competition (Malaysia) had been shortlisted as National top 50 out of 1000 submissions.
And the A1 framed artwork had been sold to an anonymous art collector in a public auction at an undisclosed price.

He was interviewed by local Chinese Media “Sin Chew Daily’ .The newspaper cut-out was 15 July 2015.
In the year 2016, Wen Jie was invited to collaborate with one of the largest roof suppliers in South East Asia – Bluescope Lysaght for the 12 artworks featuring 12 different buildings showcasing their roof products.
The year 2017 calendar printout was then later distributed to Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
It was a great opportunity to collaborate with an international company.
In the years 2017- 2018, he was invited by a local Art Centre – The Art People to teach outdoor urban sketching in various locations in Singapore.
Based on the feedback of students, the exposure of having outdoor sketching is definitely different from doing indoor.
Most of the students enjoyed the art sketching sessions.
In 2018, his first solo art exhibition titled “ South East Asia Interface” was held in Sutera Mall, Johor Bahru.
Wen Jie was the event organizer of the exhibition, and the work involved included curation, installation, artwork selection, and urban sketch teaching in the café.
In recent year June 2021, his artwork “Bukit China Market” had won a place to be exhibited in Slovenia , organized by Slovenia International Watercolor Society.
